Sam Brownback

Sam Brownback was born in Kansas in 1956. Sworn in as governor of Kansas on January 9, 2011. Brownback served as Secretary of the Kansas Board of Agriculture from 1986 - 1993. During that time he also served as a White House Fellow in President George H. W. Bush’s administration. In the Senate, Brownback was an effective advocate for Kansas interests while serving on the Appropriations Committee, the Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee, and the Homeland Security Subcommittee. He was a founding member of the Senate Fiscal Watch Team. Honoring his pledge to only serve two elected terms in the U.S. Senate, he did not seek reelection in 2010.
